In an effort to organize my cluttered brain, I have taken on my mother’s habit of listing. We’re leaving for vacation in a few days, which always prompts many lists. Usually these lists are coordinated and organized so that I can stand in one room, and look at one list, and place everything needed from that list and room into it’s appropriate bag/box/or whatever else I am putting things in. It’s a few days away from take-off time, so the listing has started. It begins with a comprehensive list of everything needed for the children. This stuff is often the most important – if anything left behind, chaos and confusion set in. At least that is what I for-see. It’s amazing how much you think you need when you go somewhere once you have kids. There’s blankies, and bottles, and soothers, and books, and toys, and diapers, and on and on and on! I’m looking forward to our next vacation (before number 3 arrives) that will be sans kids.
After finishing the children’s lists, I move on to the miscellaneous list. You know, random things like books for the adults, extra blankets, food, beach stuff. This list is often the hardest, because it is so broad, there is so much room for forgetfullness. And I excel at forgetfullness. If it were a course in school I would have aced it. After that list is complete, it’s on to my stuff. Everything I think I will need, and then some. I don’t make any list pertaining to anything MyKidsDad will need. He hates lists. Despises them actually. He prefers to rely on his memory, which thankfully, usually works. Although, he now owns about 4 or 5 bathing suits because that is the one thing he always manages to forget. I have thought about leaving a list under his pillow, just simply stating “bathing suit”. The easier solution is just to put it on my list, and pack him one, that way if he does forget, he has one, and if he doesn’t, well then, he has options.
Speaking of bathing suits, I bought a new one yesterday. I went to the mall, expecting not to find anything, or find only one thing that was OK and have to settle. It turned out I found 3 different suits that I really liked! It was very exciting, the even better part was all the suits I liked were less than 50$. I went expecting to have to spend twice that. All in all, it was an incredibly exciting time, picking out and trying on bathing suits, while The Boy is smothering Lil’ Miss in her stroller and she is screaming and he won’t quit doing it and then we get into the change room and she wants “out. OUT. OOOUUUTTT!” So I let her get out of her seat and she proceeds to pull back the curtain while I’m half naked, and get down on her belly to crawl under the change room door while I’m half naked (and can’t chase her) and do other such mischevious things. It was a BLAST. I can’t wait to do it again.
/sarcasm.
Anyways, here’s the pic. Yes, it’s maternity. It’s actually nice, because it’s not going to show off my belly once I’m bigger (which I don’t like to do) because the underwear part goes up high. I’m going to go to Wally World and see if I can find some black boy shorts style bottoms to wear with it for the first little while, because I hate regular bottoms on swim suits.
Anyways, it looks cute. And it compliments my new hair. Yes, I finally went and fixed my hair the other weekend. I’m SO happy with it. It’s back to dark brown, and the cut is even and nice! I ended up going to the salon by my house, and the girl was GREAT, I’m totally going back. And it only took me like, 2 minutes to drive there! Woohoo!
